Hofkirche Church

The main feature of the Hofkirche church is 28 black bronze statues as tall as a man and even taller. For this reason, the locals call it the Church of the "black people." Initially, Hofkirche was planned as a mausoleum for Maximilian I. A massive tomb was created for this purpose, decorated with relief images of the emperor’s exploits and his kneeling statue. Among the black figures framing the tomb, one can find both real people - the ancestors of Maximilian - and his idol - King Arthur. Despite the long and painstaking 50-year-old construction of the mausoleum, the emperor was never buried here. The body of the ruler is buried in the chapel of St. George in the homeland of Maximilian in Neustadt, and the heart is buried in the Belgian city of Bruges near the grave of his wife Maria Burgundy.

Tyrolean Museum Ferdinandeum

The Museum of Local Lore Ferdinandeum was founded in 1823 by Count Karl Hotk. It was recognized as the third national museum in Austria-Hungary after Budapest and Graz. The collection of Ferdinandeum covers the period from the early Middle Ages to the present day. The pride of the collection is the paintings of Dürer, Brueghel the Elder, Rembrandt, Klimt and Dali. Trazberg

Originally, the castle of Trazberg served as a defense against the invasions of the Bavarians, but after a devastating fire and subsequent restoration under the emperor Maximilian I turned into a luxurious Gothic residence. In the chambers of Maximilian I, pay attention to the amazing carved ceiling, and in the front hall of the Habsburgs, to portraits of members of the imperial family and impressive full-size deer images. Be sure to look into the southeastern part of the castle and go up to the Tower of Stairs, where the Tyrolean culture museum is open.
