How is a rented car insured

One of the most frequently asked questions of our valued customers – how and from what risks the car they are going to rent is insured. In the vast majority of cases, all car rental offers include a basic level of insurance: damage insurance with a deductible, car theft insurance with a deductible, third party liability insurance. Consider with you what all of this means, and so: 

Damage insurance with a deductible. Of course, we live and move not in airless space, but along public roads. Accordingly, no matter how skilled and professional drivers we are, there are still people around us who do not necessarily drive well. As a result of a meeting with such a driver, marks on your memory remain on your car. Be sure to call the police, and arrange all the papers. Your liability is limited to the deductible specified in your lease. In the process of choosing a car, you can see the franchise size for various groups of cars in the section “Rent terms”, this is how it looks:

Suppose your franchise was 1000 euros, and the repair of the car you rented was 350 euros. In this case, 350 euros will be deducted from you and 650 of the previously blocked ones will be returned. If repair  amounted to 1,500 or 3,000 or 5,000 euros, then a maximum of 1,000 euros will be deducted from you, that is, the entire amount blocked for the franchise when issuing a car. Please note that the basic insurance most often does not include damage to the windows, headlights, wheels and underbody of the car. As you can see in the photo above, you have the opportunity to purchase super insurance (insure glass, headlights, wheels, the bottom of the car) and reduce the deductible (in some companies you can reduce the deductible to 0 in some there). Some companies have additional conditions regarding the theft or complete loss of a rented car. The franchise in the event of damage, for example, is 500 euros, but in the event of the complete loss of the car or its theft, another franchise applies – 1000, 2000 or 3000 euro. That is, if a rental car is stolen, if the deposit is less than the deductible for this insurance case, you will need to pay the difference. Do not be frightened by this: if you have chosen a car, when you rent any rules that do not suit you, our experts or you yourself can always choose an offer that suits you. The cost of insurance in such companies – the thing is not very expensive, as a rule, it ranges from 6 to 25 euros per day (depending on the category of rental car that you have chosen), but not more than some amount for the entire rental period. Let's say the cost of insurance is 10 euros per day, and you rent a car for 25 days. In this case, most companies will charge you insurance for 15 days, and it will be valid for the entire rental period.
